The big-screen adaptation of the flexible, stretchable toy will finally make its way to the big screen thanks to a new partnership between Hasbro and Relativity Media.

However, the “Twilight” star will no longer be headlining the project due to scheduling conflicts, an individual with knowledge of the project confirmed to TheWrap.

A new cast will be announced shortly.

Lautner has stumbled in launching a post-”Twilight” career — the teen pin-up’s recent bid for stardom, last fall’s “Abduction,” disappointed at the box office, grossing grossed $82 million worldwide on a $35 million budget.

Lautner will next appear in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2″ and is on pre-production on “Incarceron.”

“Stretch Armstrong” was originally in development at Universal, which was eyeing a 2012 release for the film. Lautner was on tap to earn a reported $7.5 million for the movie. He had cleared up his dance card to fit the big-budget project into his schedule, dropping out of the superhero film “Max Steel” and the extreme flying story “Northern Lights.”

Relativity will be the domestic distributor and will release the film internationally. The film is targeted for an April 11, 2014 release date.

In keeping with the theme of sports, the NBC late-night talker will welcome guests like Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal for the Feb. 1-3 episodes, broadcasting from Indianapolis’ Hilbert Circle Theatre.

Guest announcers will be Deion Sanders, Michael Strahan and Bob Costas. For the post-Super Bowl live episode on Feb. 5 following the premiere of The Voice, Steve Higgins will be on hand to announce. (Guests for that episode are Andy Samberg and Adam Sandler.)

Additionally, Taylor Lautner, Tracy Morgan, The Voice coach Adam Levine, Snoop Dogg, All-American Rejects, Nas and Fitz and the Tantrums will take a seat on the couch.

It was announced earlier this week that NBC would be rolling out comprehensive Super Bowl coverage leading up to the big game, a matchup between the New York Giants and New England Patriots. This marks the first time Late Night With Jimmy Fallon has hit the road for shows since Fallon took the reins in 2009.

Directed by John Singleton (2 Fast 2 Furious) and written by Shawn Christensen, the thriller also stars Lily Collins (upcoming Mirror, Mirror), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter series), Maria Bello (TV’s “Prime Suspect”) and Sigourney Weaver (Avatar).

The film is a fast-paced ride as Nathan (Lautner) searches for the truth about his identity. For as long as he can remember, Nathan has had an unsettling feeling about his life. His feeling is confirmed when he stumbles upon a photograph of him as a child on a missing persons website. Just as he begins to uncover the truth about his identity, he finds himself having to run for his life.
